Previously, I wrote about the importance of building better teams through diversity, equity and inclusion as the right thing to do and the best way to deliver exceptional results for our clients. Since that time, Dataminr has accelerated our commitment to this principle through the launch of Together@Dataminr—an enhanced program of employee resource groups (ERGs) combined with a social impact framework that not only supports, develops and celebrates our diverse employee base, but is also dedicated to making a positive impact on the communities where we live and work globally.
The key pillars of our social impact framework are:
Humanitarian Aid: Strengthening communities in times of need
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI): Fostering diversity, equity and inclusion in our company and in our communities
STEM Education: Inspiring the next generation of leaders in tech
Information Access: Supporting universal internet access and digital inclusion
ERGs are a critical driver of our DEI focus. Led by a passionate group of employees who truly embody one of Dataminr’s core values—”bring others along”—they are empowered to tap into the strength of their shared experiences and interests to build relationships with local communities and use the full force of their passion for social good. I’m very proud of everyone who put themselves forward to lead, and I look forward to sharing the impact we’ve made with our partners over the coming months.
We asked: What are your goals for the employee resource group you lead?
Kelley Johnson
Black@Dataminr
“When people feel like they belong, they are more productive, motivated and engaged. Through the Black@Dataminr group, I want to foster a sense of belonging and solidarity through a variety of programs and by being accessible and serving as a sounding board for issues our members care about. And although the group is for employees of color, I want everyone to feel as if they can join our community.”
Roshan Leslie
Parents@Dataminr
“My goal for Parents@Dataminr is to make Dataminr an employer of choice for candidates who are also parents. I want to ensure we are providing support and making an impact in the lives of all employees at any stage of their parental journey. “
Michael Howard
Pride@Dataminr
“With the launch of our newly revamped ERG, PRIDE@Dataminr is furthering our commitment to LGBTQ talent, ensuring we feel seen and heard—and in turn, are growing our careers at Dataminr!”
Zane Jarrar
Salam@Dataminr
“Salam was created to enhance nuanced understanding of the Middle East and North Africa within the organization. We are enthusiastic for collaboration with other groups to find intersectional interests and form stronger bonds within the team.”
Imana Gunawan
Women@Dataminr
“I’m very passionate about equity. When it comes to DEI efforts (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion), a more diverse workforce will not feel supported if we’re not backing them up with an inclusive culture and equitable practices relating to career growth, compensation, and impact opportunities. I’m very excited for Women@Dataminr to work with social impact partners to really make a difference in the community. But more than that, I’m really looking forward to working with a variety of stakeholders to develop an intersectional retention and talent development strategy that ensures women employees from different backgrounds not only join the company, but continue to grow within it and push Dataminr even further.”
