Life at Dataminr

I’ve always viewed Black History Month through two lenses—first, a celebration of our progress and contributions to cultures all over the globe, and second, an assessment of what needs to happen next to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion.

This month at Dataminr, we had the opportunity to do both. Between sharing the positive impact of HBCUs weekly and hosting internal discussions with customers who recounted their own Black professional experiences and DEI expectations—our team came together and committed to keeping up the momentum.

As a purpose-driven company where our global team brings their passion and expertise to work, Dataminr not only has an important opportunity to meet this socially reflective moment in history, but to set the foundation for true diversity, equity and inclusion. Part of that process is continually taking the time to listen and understand the diverse experiences of the marginalized so that we can genuinely and effectively pave a path forward together.

Check out how a select few from Team Dataminr feels as they reflect on their experiences and what this month means to them:

“I’ve never worked in an environment or company where inclusion was as important as it is at Dataminr. Being in a space where we are allowed to celebrate our unique cultures and educate others is so refreshing. Black History Month is a time to celebrate all the amazing people that paved the way for us to be where we are today. I am forever grateful to be in a place where we are celebrated, not tolerated.” – Tia Hinds, DC

“It’s one thing to celebrate and uplift the diaspora outside the workplace, but to work alongside people who are genuinely interested in learning about your culture, your experiences, and being engaged in initiatives to foster a more equitable environment? That is something to be proud of, and I’m truly happy that I get to help this [Employee Resource Group] best tell their stories.” – Kemba Neptune, NYC

“For me, Black History Month took on a whole new meaning this year. I felt fortunate to be working for a company that was actively involved in supporting and connecting with Black employees, Black students, and Black professionals across the country, and globe. I was particularly heartened by our partnership with the National Black MBA Association and participation in the Howard University Career Fair as those community connections will bear fruit for years to come.” – Prince Kusi, NYC

“Personally, Black History Month is a time to take stock and see what the people before us fought to achieve. It is a time of rejoicing, celebrating and thanking those who struggled the hardest to give us hope or a life lesson that could be used or shared.” – Rohan Byfield, London

As we close out Black History Month, I am proud that Team Dataminr is committed to celebrating, elevating, and amplifying diverse voices throughout the year and beyond.

Stay tuned.
