March is Women’s History Month, and as we’re quickly approaching International Women’s Day on March 8, I’ve been reflecting on the role of womxn at Dataminr.
Just over a year ago, we opened our Melbourne office and I joined the team fresh out of university. It was inspiring for me to see that a majority of my colleagues were womxn from a range of cultural backgrounds, with diverse skill sets and experiences. We had the unique opportunity to carve out our own roles as womxn within a leading tech organization and be a part of cultivating a global culture of inclusivity and equity at Dataminr. It’s been a positive experience to witness the diverse group of womxn around me grow into leadership positions and set the tone for not only the Melbourne office, but the wider organization.
This year’s campaign for International Women’s Day (IWD) is #ChooseToChallenge. I’ve been thinking about how the womxn around me have dared to challenge the stereotypical image of the corporate female in male-dominated industries. This year, I’m celebrating not only womxn who motivate from leadership positions, but also my peers across offices who have worked to foster and maintain an inclusive and uplifting environment focused on encouragement, support and community every single day.
